Ingredients:

| | California dried figs | | | -- stewed, unsweetened | | 2
| cup | Sifted all-purpose flour | | 4 1/2
| tsp | Baking powder | | 2
| tbsp | Sugar | | 1
| tsp | Salt | | 2
| | Eggs | | 1/3
| cup | Shortening, melted | | 3/4
| cup | Milk (about) |

Procedures:
| 1 | Butter muffin pans generously. | | 2 | Snip stems off stewed figs and place figs in mixing bowl. | | 3 | Beat them hard, until whirled into small bits. | | 4 | Sift flour, measure and sift again with baking powder, sugar and salt. | | 5 | Add dry ingredients to figs and mix lightly. | | 6 | Add eggs, shortening and milk, and stir together until just mixed. | | 7 | Fill muffin pans half full. | | 8 | Bake in hot oven (400°F). | | 9 | For about 12 minutes or until lightly browned. |
