Ingredients:

| oz | Dried pinto beans | | 2
| cup | Ham, diced | | 1
| cup | Onion, diced | | 1
| tbsp | Season salt | | 1
| tbsp | Chicken soup base | | 5
| cup | Water | | 1
| cup | Celery, chopped | | 1/2
| cup | Carrots, minced fine | | 2
| tbsp | Beef soup base | | 1/4
| tsp | Red pepper flakes |

Procedures:
| 1 | Soak beans overnight in soda water. | | 2 | Combine all ingredients in slow cooker. | | 3 | Cook on low 8 hours or until beans are tender. | | 4 | Note: use 4 cups water for lima beans. | | 5 | Use 2 t dried vegetables in place of 1 c fresh. | | 6 | I use 1 t dried carrot tops in place of sliced fresh carrots. |
