Devilish beef stew

Ingredients:
2 lbsBeef stew meat, cut in cubes
2 tbspShortening
2 cupWater
3 tbspPrepared mustard
1 tspSeasoned salt
6 medOnions, quartered
2 cupSliced carrots
1/3 cupWater
3 tbspCornstarch
Procedures:
1In a 3 quart suacepan, brown feef, half at a time, in melted shortening.
2Sprinkle with a little salt.
3Add the 2 cups of water, mustard and seasoned salt.
4Simmer covered for between 1 hour and 1 and one half hours or until meat is almost tender.
5Add onions and carrots and cook 30 minutes more or until vegetables are tender.
6Stir the 1/3 cup of water into the cornstarch and add to the stew.
7Cook and stir until the mixture is thickened and bubbly.
8Cook 1 minute more
