| | Tomato sauce | | 1
| | 24 oz can vegetable juice | | 1
| lbs | Ground beef, cooked (opt) |

Procedures:
| 1 | Hearty soup mix: combine ingredients in a large airtight container. | | 2 | Stir to evenly distribute ingredients. | | 3 | Label container. | | 4 | Store in a cool, dry place. | | 5 | Use within 6 months. | | 6 | Shake before using. | | 7 | Makes about 12- ?cups of hearty soup mix. | | 8 | Hearty soup stock: put 6 cups water in a large kettle or dutch oven. | | 9 | Add 1-1/3 cups hearty soup mix and salt. | | 10 | Bring to a boil. | | 11 | Cover and simmer 1 to ?hours. | | 12 | Add carrots, celery, cabbage, tomato sauce, and vegetable juice cocktail. | | 13 | Add cooked ground beef or other leftover meat, if desired. | | 14 | Simmer 20 more minutes, until vegetables are cooked. | | 15 | Yield: 6 to 8 servings. |
