Glazed figs, gourmet

Ingredients:
24 California dried figs
3 cupCold water
1/4 cupCider vinegar
1 tspWhole cloves
1 cupCalifornia brandy
-OR water & brandy flavoring
1 tbspWhite corn syrup
24 Lightly browned almonds
Procedures:
1Place figs and water in saucepan.
2Bring to hard boil, then lower heat to simmer.
3Cover and let cook 20 minutes.
4Add all ingredients except almonds.
5Stir gently in order not to break figs.
6Cover and simmer again for about 20 minutes or until figs are plump and transparent.
7Cool in syrup.
8Add a little water, if needed, but keep it rich.
9Just before serving, insert toasted almond in each fig.
10Delicious with roast turkey, baked chicken, beef, pork or ham.
