Ingredients:
1 1/4 cupBrown lentils
3 3/4 cupWater
1 tspTurmeric
1 Garlic clove, crushed
2 tbspGhee
1 largeOnion, chopped
1 tspGaram Masala
1/2 tspGround ginger
1 tspCoriander
1/2 tspCayenne pepper
Fresh cilantro sprigs (opt)
Procedures:
1Wash lentils in cold water.
2In a saucepan, combine lentils, water, turmeric and garlic.
3Cover and simmer 30 minutes or until lentils are tender.
4Uncover and cook 2-3 minutes to reduce excess liquid.
5Heat ghee in a saucepan.
6Add onion and fry gently 5 minutes.
7Add garam masala, ginger, coriander and cayenne pepper; cook gently 1 minute.
8Add mixture to lentils and stir well.
9Garnish with cilantro, if desired.
10Note: for a less fiery flavor, reduce cayenne pepper
