Blackberry mint sorbet

Ingredients:
1 cupSugar
1 cupWater
1 cupFresh mint leaves
4 cupBlackberries or dewberries
1 cupRed Burgundy wine
Lemon juice (opt'l.)
Additional berries
-- for garnish
Procedures:
1In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, water and mint.
2Bring to a boil, then simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for about 5 minutes to make a mint-flavored simple syrup.
3Strain, discarding mint leaves, and cool.
4In a food processor, coarsely puree the berries.
5Turn into a bowl and stir in the wine and mint syrup.
6Taste and add lemon juice if you prefer a tarter flavor.
7Pour the liquid into an ice cream maker and freeze according to manufacturer"s directions until firm.
8Garnish with additional berries.
9Yield: 1 ?quarts.
