Autumn apple shortcakes

Ingredients:
SHORTCAKE
2 cupBisquick
1/2 cupWater
2 tbspSugar
2 tbspShredded orange peel
CRANBERRY APPLE FILLING
2 cupCranberries
1/3 cupApple juice
2 cupApples, peeled, thinly slice
2/3 cupSugar
1/2 cupApple juice
1 tbspCornstarch
Procedures:
1Heat oven to 450°F.
2Grease cookie sheet.
3Stir bisquick, water, sugar and orange peel until soft dough forms.
4Drop by 6 spoonsful onto cookie sheet.
5Sprinkle with additional sugar, if desired.
6Bake 8 to 10 minutes, until brown.
7Prepare cranberry-apple filling.
8Split shortcakes and fill and top shortcakes with filling and whipped cream.
9cranberry-apple filling:
10heat cranberries and 1/3 cup apple juice to boiling in 2 qt. pan.
11Stir in apples and reduce heat.
12Simmer uncovered 5 minutes, or until apples are softened.
13Mix remaining ingredients and stir into cranberry mixture.
14Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils.
15Boil and stir one minute and remove from heat.
16Serve warm.
