Appelbeignets (dutch apple fritters)

Ingredients:
8 largeApples peeled, cored
2 cupAll-purpose flour, sifted
12 ozAle
1/2 tspSalt
Oil, lard or shortening
Confectioners' sugar
Procedures:
1Slice the peeled and cored apples or cut into rounds at 1/3 inch thick.
2Combine ale, flour and salt with whisk, until mixture is smooth then dip apple slices in mixture.
3Fry in deep fat or in 1 inch of oil in heavy skillet at 370°Frying temperature.
4Drain.
5Sprinkle with confectioners" sugar.
6Serve immediately.
