Ingredients:
1/2 cupButter
1/4 cupSugar (or up to double amt.)
4 Eggs
1 tspBaking powder
1 cupUnbleached white flour
1 tspCinnamon
1 tspNutmeg
1/2 tspGround cloves
1/2 cupMilk
1/2 tspPure vanilla extract
1 cupPitted, chopped dates
1/2 cupChopped walnuts
Fresh whipped cream
Procedures:
1Preheat the oven to 325°F.
2Cream together the butter and sugar.
3Beat in the eggs.
4Combine the baking powder, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
5Add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture, beating well.
6Mix in the milk and vanilla.
7Beat well.
8Add the chopped dates and walnuts and stir again to distribute them evenly.
9Butter and flour a 9-inch cake pan.
10Pour the batter into the pan.
11Bake for about 30 minutes, until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
12Serve with fresh whipped cream.
