Canterbury jumbles

Ingredients:
1/2 cupSolid vegetable shortening
1/2 cupUnsalted butter, 1 stick
2 cupFirmly packed dark brown
-sugar
2 largeEggs
1/2 cupButtermilk
2 tspVanilla
3 1/2 cupFlour
1 tspBaking soda
1 tspSalt
1 cupUnsweetened flaked coconut
1 cupMacadamia nuts, coarsely
-chopped
1 1/2 cupRaisins
3 cupSemisweet chocolate chips
Procedures:

2In a large mixing bowl, bet the shortening, butter and brown sugar together until smooth.
3Beat in the eggs, then stir in the buttermilk and vanilla.
4Blend the flour, baking soda and salt together in a small bowl, stir the flour mixture into the butter mixture until incorporated.
5Stir in the coconut, nuts, raisins and chocolate chips.
6Drop by leavel half-tablespoons onto greased cookie sheets.
7Bake for 7-10 minutes, until the cookies are puffed and slightly brown.
8Cool on a rack.
9The cooies keep well in an airtight tin.
