Sourdough banana bread

Ingredients:
1/2 cupShortening
1 cupSugar
1 Large Egg
1 cupMashed Bananas
1 cupActive Sourdough Starter
2 cupUnbleached Flour
1 tbspSalt
1 tbspBaking Powder
1/2 tbspBaking Soda
3/4 cupChopped Walnuts
1 tbspVanilla OR
1 tbspGrated Orange Peel
Procedures:
1Cream together the shortening and sugar, add egg and mix until blended.
2Stir in bananas and sourdough starter.
3Add orange peel or vanilla.
4Stir flour and measure again with salt, baking powder and soda.
5Add flour mixture and walnuts to the first mixture, stirring until just blended.
6Pour into greased 9x5" loaf pan.
7Bake in 350°F.
8Oven for 1 hour or until toothpick comes out clean.
9Cool to cold before slicing.
