Ingredients:

| | White onions, thinly sliced | | 3
| tbsp | Butter | | 2
| tbsp | Chopped fresh parsley | | 2
| | Cloves garlic, finely choppe | | 2
| | Bay leaves | | 1/2
| cup | Prosciutto or cooked ham | | 4
| cup | Chicken Broth | | 3
| cup | Water | | 1
| tsp | Pepper | | 4
| | Potatoes, shredded | | 1/4
| cup | Grated Romano cheese |

Procedures:
| 1 | Cover and cook onions in butter in 4 qt dutch oven over medium-low heat 10 minutes. | | 2 | Stir in parsley,garlic, bay leaves and prosciutto. | | 3 | Cook, uncovered, over high heat 5 minutes, stirring frequently. | | 4 | Stir in remaining ingredients except cheese. | | 5 | Heat to boiling. | | 6 | Reduce heat. | | 7 | Cover and simmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. | | 8 | Remove bay leaves. | | 9 | Top each serving with cheese. | | 10 | Slow-simmering soup is enriched with diced prosciutto and freshly grated romano cheese. |
