Smoky pumpkin soup

Ingredients:
6 sliceBacon, diced, cooked crisp
-fat reserved
4 tbsp(?stick) unsalted butter
6 cupPeeled, cut up pumpkin, 1"
-pieces
6 cupBeef stock or canned broth
1/2 cupMarsala
1 tspDried thyme
Procedures:
1Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste heat the bacon fat and butter in a stock pot over medium-high heat.
2Add the pumpkin and saute" for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
3Pour in the stock and simmer, covered, until the pumpkin is very tender, about 30 minutes.
4Remove from heat.
5Add the marsala, thyme, salt, and pepper to taste.
6Process the soup in batches in a blender until smooth.
7Return to the stock pot.
8Add the bacon.
9Simmer 10 minutes.
10Serve immediately, garnished with pumpkin seeds.
11Makes 6 portions.
