Ingredients:
2 1/2 lbsLean ground pork
1/4 cupMinced onion
2 Garlic cloves, crushed
1 tspSalt
2 tspGround black pepper
1 Round loaf of French bread
-OR sourdough bread
-- cut in half horizontally
Procedures:
1Serve this hearty hamburger that"s big enough for a whole group.
2In large bowl, gently, but thoroughly, mix all ingredients together.
3Shape seasoned pork into a ball, and cover and refrigerate until ready to grill.
4(can be prepared up to 24 hours ahead of time).
5Prepare a medium-hot fire in a charcoal or gas grill.
6Remove seasoned pork from refrigerator.
7On a piece of waxed paper, pat into a round patty that measures 11 inches in diameter (or 1 inch larger than bread).
8Invert patty onto the grill; peel off waxed paper.
9Cook for about 8 minutes on each side.
10Turn burger over by sliding it onto a flat baking sheet, using a second baking sheet to help push it on.
11Sandwich the burger between the two sheets, hold them together and invert the patty.
12Slide the big burger back onto the grill, cooked side up.
13Continue cooking for another 8 minutes.
14If desired, toast the bread, cut side down.
15To serve, slide the burger onto the bottom half of the bread, using a baking sheet.
16Cut into serving-size wedges.
