Oriental beef salad

Ingredients:
1 lbsSirloin steak, or top round
- cut ? thick, boneless
1/4 cupDry sherry
1/4 cupSoy sauce, reduced sodium if
- desired
1 tbspCornstarch
3 tbspVegetable oil, divided
8 ozMushrooms, fresh, sliced
6 ozPea pods, frozen, defrosted
4 cupLettuce, thinly sliced
Chow mein noodles (optional)
Red Bell pepper, slices

Procedures:
1Preparation time: 30 minutes cut the steak into 1/8" thick strips.
2(this is much easier to do if the meat is partially frozen).
3If meat is partly frozen, allow to thaw and then dry the meat.
4Combine sherry, soy sauce and cornstarch; pour over the meat, stirring to coat.
5Heat 2 tb. oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium high heat.
6Add mushrooms and pea pods; stir-fry 3 to 4 minutes.
7Remove vegetables; reserve.
8Drain marinade from beef and reserve.
9Add remaining oil to the skillet.
10Stir-fry beef strips (?at a time), 1 to 2 minutes.
11Return vegetables, beef and marinade to the skillet; cook and stir until sauce thickens.
12Serve beef mixture over the lettuce.
13Garnish with the noodles and pepper slices if desired.
