Lentil soup with cilantro

Ingredients:
1 cupGreen or brown lentils
1 Small onion
2 Cloves garlic, minced
1 Bay leaf
6 1/2 cupWater
1 tspSalt
Fresh ground pepper
1 Bunch cilantro, chopped
1/4 cupPlain non-fat yogurt garnish
Procedures:
1Wash and pick over lentils.
2Combine lentils, onion, garlic, bay leaf and water in a soup pot.
3Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 40 minutes.
4Add the salt toward the end of the cooking time.
5Remove from the heat.
6Discard the onion and bay leaf.
7Put the soup through a food mill or puree half of it in a blender.
8Heat through, add salt and pepper to taste, stir in the cilantro, and serve, topping each bowl with a dollop of yogurt.
