Ingredients:
1/4 cupNuts
1 Egg
3 tbspShortening
1 cupMilk
3 ozUnsweetened chocolate
- Premelted envelopes
1/2 tspVanilla
1 1/4 cupFlour
1 1/3 cupSugar
1 1/4 tspBaking powder
1/2 tspSalt
1/4 tspSoda
1/2 cupSemisweet chocolate pieces
Procedures:
1Heat oven to 350°F.
2Grease and flour baking pan, 9x9x2".
3Measure nuts into blender; chop on low speed.
4Set nuts aside.
5In order listed, measure remaining ingredients except chocolate pieces into blender.
6Blend 30 seconds on high speed, stopping blender occasionally to scrape sides with rubber spatula.
7(batter may be slightly lumpy).
8Pour batter into pan.
9Bake about 35 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
10Immediately sprinkle chocolate pieces over cake.
11Place baking sheet over pan so contained heat will soften chocolate pieces.
12Spread softened chocolate evenly over cake; sprinkle with reserved nuts.
13Serve warm.
14*to prepare cake with electric mixer, measure all ingredients except nuts and chocolate pieces into large mixer bowl.
15Blend ?minute on low speed, scraping bowl constantly.
16Beat 3 minutes high speed, scraping bowl occasionally.
17Bake as directed.
18**if using self-rising flour, omit baking powder and salt.
