Ingredients:
1 1/4 cupSugar
1 cupFlour
3 tbspCocoa, unsweetened
2 tspBaking powder
1/4 tspSalt
1/3 cupButter, melted
1 1/2 tspVanilla
1/2 cupPacked brown sugar
1/4 cupCocoa, unsweetened
1 1/4 cupHot water
1/4 cupKirsch or 2 tb. water plus
?ts almond or rum extract
1 Can cherry pie filling
Procedures:
1Preheat oven to 350.
2In a medium-size bowl, combine ?cup of the sugar, flour, three tablespoons of the cocoa, baking powder and salt.
3Blend in milk, melted butter and vanilla; beat until smooth.
4Spread into an 8 inch square pan.
5In a small bowl, combine remaining ?cup sugar, brown sugar and remaining ?cup cocoa; sprinkle mixture evenly over batter.
6Combine hot water and kirsch; pour over batter.
7Do not stir.
8Bake for 40 minutes, or until center is almost set.
9Let stand 15 minutes.
10Transfer to dessert dishes and spoon pudding from bottom of pan over cake.
11Serve with cherry pie filling as sauce.
12(great without the cherry pie filling, and/or with whipped cream).
