Ingredients:
3 Eggs
1 cupSugar
1 3/4 cupFlour, all-purpose
1/8 tspSalt
2 tspBaking powder
2 tbspWater
1/2 tspVanilla
1/4 tspAlmond extract
1 1/3 cupPitted Bing cherries
-fresh or canned
1/4 cupChopped walnuts
Procedures:
1Beat eggs until light; gradually add sugar; beat until lemon-colored.
2Add sifted dry ingredients.
3Add water, vanilla, and almond extract; mix well.
4Pour into two prepared round layer pans.
5Drop cherries over batter (save some for garnish).
6Sprinkle with nuts.
7Bake in moderate oven, 350°F , 30 minutes.
8Serve slightly warm with sweetened whipped cream between layer and over top.
9Garnish with whole cherries.
