Bavarian apple cheesecake

Ingredients:
CRUST
1/3 cupSugar
1/3 cupButter or margarine
1 tbspSolid shortening
1/4 tspVanilla
1 cupFlour
1/8 tspSalt
FILLING
4 cupApples, peeled, cored, slice
16 ozCream cheese, softened
1/2 cupSugar
1/2 tspVanilla
2 Eggs
TOPPING
1/3 cupSugar
1 tspGround cinnamon
1/3 cupSliced almonds
Procedures:
1In medium mixer bowl, beat sugar, margarine, shortening, and vanilla on medium speed of electric mixer til combined.
2Blend in flour and salt until crumbly.
3Pat onto the bottom of a 9" springform pan.
4Set aside.
5Place apple slices in a single layer in a shallow baking pan.
6Cover with foil.
7Bake in a 400°F oven for 15 minutes.
8Meanwhile, in a large mixer bowl, beat the cream cheese, sugar and vanilla until fluffy.
9Add the eggs, all at once, beating on low speed just until combined.
10Pour into dough-lined pan.
11Arrange warm apple slices on top of filling.
12Combine the remaing sugar and cinnamon.
13Sprinkle, with the almonds, on top of the warm apples.
14Bake, at 400°F, for 40 minutes or until golden.
15Cool.
16Remove sides and place cake on serving platter.
17Cover; chill 4-24 hours before serving.
