Apple date & walnut cakes

Ingredients:
4 Cox's Apples, cored, peeled
-and sliced
4 tbspOrange Juice
6 ozBrown Sugar
4 ozButter
1 largeEgg, Beaten
8 ozPlain Flour
1/2 tspBicarbonate of Soda
1/2 tspSalt
1/2 tspBaking Powder
1 tspCinnamon
4 ozFresh Dates, Chopped
2 ozWalnut Pieces
Procedures:
1Preheat oven to 190c/375f/gas mark Grease a 12 by 7 inch baking tin.
2Place apples and orange juice in a pan.
3Cover and cook over a low heat for 10-12 minutes until soft.
4Mash to form a puree.
5In a bowl, beat sugar and butter until light and creamy.
6Beat in egg and apple puree.
7Sift in flour, bicarbonate of soda, salt, baking powder and cinnamon.
8Fold in the chopped dates and walnuts.
9Pour cake mixture into prepared tin and bake in preheated oven for 40 minutes until risen and form to the touch.
10Allow to cool and cut into 12 squares.
