Viennese puff

Ingredients:
1 cupBread crumbs
1 lbsSausage meat
3 tbspButter or margarine
1/4 tspCurry powder
1/2 tspSalt
1/2 tspPepper
1 smallOnion, chopped
1/2 cupGrated Cheddar cheese
1/2 cupFlour
1 cupMilk
1 Egg, fork beaten
Procedures:
1Sprinkle crumbs evenly over bottom of baking dish about 8 x 8 inches.
2Pat sausage meat on waxed paper to size of dish.
3Invert over crumbs and remove paper.
4Cover.
5Bake in 350°F oven for 30 minutes.
6Drain off as much fat as you can manage without disturbing meat.
7While meat is cooking, melt butter in medium size saucepan.
8Add curry, salt, pepper, onion and cheese.
9Stir until cheese is melted.
10Stir in flour.
11Add milk and beaten egg.
12Stir vigorously until thickened.
13It will be thick.
14Remove from heat.
15When ready, remove sausage meat from oven.
16Drain.
17Spread mixture evenly over the meat.
18Leave uncovered.
19Return to oven and bake at 400°F for 30 minutes until golden brown.
20Serves 3-Recipe can be doubled and baked in 9 x 13 inch pan.
