Spareribs - cabbage 'n kraut

Ingredients:
1 xPork spare ribs (3-4 lb)
-cut in serving pieces
Salt and pepper
1 canSauerkraut (small)
1/2 smallCabbage, thinly sliced
1 largeOnion, thinly sliced
1 Apple, quartered, cored and
-sliced
1 tspCaraway seeds or
1 tspDill
1 cupWater
1 tspSalt
Procedures:
1Sprinkle spareribs with salt and pepper.
2Brown ribs for 30 minutes in a heavy skillet or broiler pan.
3Put alternate layers of spare ribs, sauerkraut, cabbage, onion and apple in crock pot.
4Add caraway seeds or dill to water and pour over all.
5Cover and set to low for 6-8 hours.
6(high 4-5 hours).
7Stir several times during cooking when using high only.
8Note: may be prepared using all sauerkraut or all cabbage if desired.
