Spanish pork chop dinner

Ingredients:
4 eachPork chops, trimmed of fat
1 tbspOil
1 tspSalt
1 tspChili powder
1/4 tspBlack pepper
3/4 cupLong grain rice
1/2 cupChopped onion
1/4 cupChopped green peppers
1 can(1 lb 4 oz) whole tomatoes
5 eachGreen peppers rings
1/2 cupGrated Cheddar cheese
Procedures:
1In large dutch oven, slowly brown the chops in heated oil.
2Drain off excess oil.
3Sprinkle chops with salt, chili powder and black pepper.
4Add rice, onions and chopped green peppers.
5Pour in tomatoes with liquid, breaking tomatoes into pieces with a wooden spoon.
6Cover and bring to boiling over high heat.
7Reduce heat and simmer 35 to 40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
8Add pepper rings and cook 2 minutes longer or until rice and meat are tender.
9Sprinkle with cheese.
10Transfer to serving platter, arranging chops and pepper rings over the top.
11** you may use precooked rice if you wish, adding it during the last 10 minutes of cooking.
