Raspberry-champagne sorbet

Ingredients:
1 cupWater, divided
3/4 cupSugar
2 cupFresh raspberries
2 cupChampagne, chilled
Procedures:
1Combine ?cup water and sugar in a small saucepan; bring to a boil, stirring until sugar melts.
2Remove from heat, and cool completely.
3position knife blade in food processor bowl; add raspberries and remaining ?cup water.
4Process until smooth.
5Strain and discard seeds.
6combine sugar-water mixture, raspberry puree, and champagne.
7Pour mixture into the freezer can of an ice-cream freezer, and freeze according to the manufacturer"s directions.
8Spoon into a freezer-safe container; cover and freeze (ripen) 1 hour.
9Yield: 4 cups (serving size: ?cup).
