Five spice plum sorbet

Ingredients:
21 1/2 ozCans purple plums
1/2 cupWater
1/4 cupDry Sherry
3/4 tspChinese five-spice powder
Whole star anise seeds
-(optional)
Procedures:
1Drain plums, reserving liquid.
2Remove pits from plums.
3In food processor or blender, combine plums, reserved liquid, water, sherry and spice powder.
4Process until very smooth (there should be no flecks of plum peel).
5Freeze in ice cream maker according to manufacturer"s directions.
6Serve garnished with star anise, if desired.
7serves 6 to 8.
