Ingredients:
1 1/2 cupPowdered sugar
1 cupMargarine or butter
-softened
1 tspVanilla
1/2 tspAlmond extract
1 Egg
2 1/2 cupAll-purpose flour*
1 tspBaking soda
1 tspCream of tartar
Creamy vanilla frosting
Tinted with food color, if
-desired
Colored sugar, small
-candies
Candied fruit or nuts
*if using self-rising flour

Baking soda and cream of
-tartar.
Procedures:
1Recipe by: betty crocker"s cookbook mix powdered sugar, margarine, vanilla, almond extract and egg.
2Stir in remaining ingredients except granulated sugar.
3Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours.
4Heat oven to 375 degrees.
5Grease cookie sheet lightly.
6Divide dough in half.
7Roll each half ?inch thick on lightly floured surface.
8Cut into desired shapes with 2 to 2-?inch cookie cutters.
9Place on cookie sheet.
10Bake 7 to 8 minutes or until edges are light brown; cool.
11Frost or decorate cooled cookies with creamy vanilla frosting tinted with food color if desired.
12Decorate with colored sugar, small candies, candied fruit or nuts if desired.
13About 5 dozen cookies; 80 cookies per cookie.
