Thanksgiving butterscotch pie

Ingredients:
1 cupBrown sugar
1 tbspFlour
1 cupMilk
1/4 tspSalt
1 x*pastry
2 tbspButter
1 ea Egg, separated
1 tspVanilla
1 tspSugar
Procedures:
1Boil the brown sugar and butter together until soft.
2Beat the egg yolk well and add it to the flour, then add the milk.
3Beat this until very smooth.
4Combine with the sugar mixture and cook until the mixture thickens.
5Remove from fire and add salt and flavoring.
6Pour into a pastry-lined pan.
7Bake at 450°F for 10 minutes; reduce the heat to 350°F and bake 30 minutes.
8Cover pie with a meringue made by beating the white of the egg stiff and adding 1 tsp sugar.
9Return pie to oven to brown meringue
