Ingredients:
1 cupSugar
1/2 cupButter or other shortening
1 cupMilk, sour
2 tspCinnamon
1/4 tspNutmeg
1 tspSoda
1/4 cupWater, boiling
1 cupMolasses
3 cupFlour
2 tspGinger
1 tspCloves
2 ea Egg, well beaten
1 x*dissolved in:
Procedures:
1Cream the shortening and sugar, aadd the eggs and molasses, and mix well.
2Sift the flour and spices, and add alternately with the milk to the first mixture.
3Stir in the dissolved soda.
4Pour into well-greased cake pan and bake at 350°F 30 minutes
