| cup | Canned tomatoes | | 1 1/2
| cup | Hot water or stock | | 2
| tbsp | Onion flakes | | 3
| tsp | Salt | | 1/2
| tsp | Sugar | | 1/8
| tsp | Thyme | | 1/2
| lbs | Raw shrimp, peeled | | 3
| tbsp | Flour | | 1/4
| cup | Tomato paste | | 1/2
| cup | Diced green pepper | | 2
| tbsp | Chopped parsley | | 2
| tsp | Chili powder | | 1/4
| tsp | Garlic powder | | 2
| cup | Diced, cooked ham | | 1
| tsp | Lemon juice |

Procedures:
| 1 | Melt butter in a 2.5 qt heavy saucepan. | | 2 | Remove from heat. | | 3 | Blend in flour and cook over low heat until the mixture is a medium to dark brown. | | 4 | Remove from heat and add the next 11 ingredients. | | 5 | Simmer 20 minutes, covered. | | 6 | Add ham, shrimp and lemon juice. | | 7 | Cook uncovered, for 10 minutes or until shrimp turn pink. | | 8 | Serve over hot cooked rice |
