Ingredients:
1 x*pastry
1/2 cupMolasses
1/2 tbspSoda
3/4 cupWater, boiling
3/4 cupFlour
2 tbspShortening
1/8 tspGinger
1/2 tspCinnamon
1 x*liquid:
1 ea Egg yolk, well beaten
1 x*dissolved in:
1 x*crumbs:
1/2 cupBrown sugar
1/8 tspNutmeg
1/8 tspCloves
1/4 tspSalt
Procedures:
1Combine the ingredients for the liquid part mixing well.
2Combine the dry ingredients for the crumbs, working in the shortening.
3Line a pie pan with pastry.
4Make alternate layers of crumbs and liquid.
5Top with crumbs and bake at 450°F until crust edges start to brown.
6Reduce heat to 350°F and bake until firm (about 20 minutes)
