Fastnacht potato cake

Ingredients:
2 ea Potato
1 cupSugar
1/4 tspNutmeg
1 x*or:
1 cupYeast
1/2 cupWater, warm
2 ea Egg
1 tspSalt
1/2 cupLard
1/2 cupOther shortening
1 x*dissolved in:
1 xFlour
Procedures:
1Boil the pared potatoes in enough water to cover them.
2Drain off the potato water and save.
3Mash the potatoes and beat lightly.
4Measure the potato water and add more water, if necessary, to make 1 ?pints.
5Combine with the rest of the ingredients, using enough flour to make a rather stiff batter.
6Cover and let rise in a warm place until morning.
7Knead in the morning, adding as much flour as is necessary.
8Let rise again.
9Spread on well-greased tins and when light (about 1-?hours) brush melted butter over top.
10Strew with "rivels" made by combining ?cup sugar, ?cup flour, and 2 tbsp butter
