Almond slices (mondel schnits)

Ingredients:
2 eachEgg
3/4 cupFlour
3/4 cupAlmond, sliced
1/2 tspLemon extract
?ea Lemon, juice of
1/2 cupSugar
1/2 tspBaking powder
2 tbspWater, ice
1 x*or:
2 tbspSugar
Procedures:
1The almonds need not be blanched, just sliced fine.
2Sift flour and baking powder together, then set aside.
3Cream the eggs and sugar thoroughly.
4Add the extract and water and beat hard.
5Add the sliced nuts and flour, beating lightly until thoroughly mixed.
6Pour the batter into a greased pan, sprinkle sugar over the top and bake at 350°F until brown.
7Allow the cake to cool in pan before cutting in slices
